Compactor - Ram Stuck in Down Position

If the ram is stuck in the down position and will not go up again:

Lift up on the foot pedal and then release it to allow the ram to complete a cycle.
Confirm there is power going to the compactor by making sure the cord is plugged in securely and that the house circuit breaker has not tripped.

The compactor door/drawer will not open if the ram is stuck. Because of the difficulty with this repair, there is no DIY assistance or additional troubleshooting. For service, please schedule an appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service.
