Rating Plate Location on Older Refrigerators

The rating plate contains important information, like you model and serial number, power ratings, and manufacturing location. The location of the rating plate varies depending on the product.

To find the rating plate on older GE, Profile, and Monogram side-by-side refrigerators:

  • 1993 - Current: Locate Model and Serial Number 
  • 1992 "R" models and Profile SxS: Inner right wall of fresh food beside the lower vegetable drawer
  • Prior to 1992 SxS: Inner left wall of the fresh food compartment at either the top or at the bottom next to the vegetable drawer (remove vegetable drawer). May also be found on the lower right corner just above the grille.

To find the rating plate on older Top-Mount refrigerators:

  • 1988 - Current: Locate Model and Serial Number 
  • 1990 Top-Mount cycle defrost 9, 11 cu. ft. models: Located on back of unit.
  • 1976 to 1988 - Right front corner of frame above grill.
  • 1975 & earlier Top-Mount - Bottom left wall after removing vegetable drawer. B

To find the rating plate on older Bottom-Mount refrigerators:

  • Newer Models: Locate Model and Serial Number 
  • Older Models - Inner left wall of the fresh food compartment at either the top or at the bottom next to the vegetable drawer (remove vegetable drawer).

Compact Models: Located on the rear or inside at the upper left corner.

Wall Refrigerators: On the left wall of far left fresh food compartment as you face the unit.

Monitor-Top: These models have two numbers - one for the refrigerating unit and one for the cabinet.

  • Refrigerating unit: On the back of the enclosure of the sealed motor or on the left rear corner of the base.
  • Cabinet model numbers are located on the back or on the top door jamb (with door open) on the hinge side.
