Cleaning Oven Gasket

Most ovens have a woven fiberglass gasket on the door. These gaskets do not require cleaning and can be damaged if cleaned. The owner's manual states not to get the gasket wet or spill liquid on it.

  • Some older non-self-cleaning and continuous clean models had a silicone rubber gasket, located on the face of the oven instead of the door. This rubber gasket can be cleaned with soap and water.

It is normal for the gasket to have an opening at the bottom of the door; it does not go all the way around the door. This allows for some air flow and heat circulation.
