Range & Wall Oven - Self-Clean Does Not Turn Off
When using the Self-Clean feature on a Gas or Electric Range or Wall Oven, the Self-Clean cycle is set to run for a specific amount of time. For a moderately soiled oven, run a 3 hour self-clean cycle. For a heavily soiled oven, run a 5 hour self-clean cycle. The Self-Clean cycle should automatically shut off when the set amount of time has passed.
Stopping a Self-Clean Cycle That Does Not Turn Off Automatically
- If the clock is advancing or the ERC (Electronic Range Control) is counting down, the time allotted for the cycle has not expired.
- To turn the oven off on older, mechanical timer models, turn the stop knob to the time of day. The knob should "pop out." Turn the oven set knob to "off" and the oven temperature knob out of the "clean" position.
- On ERC (Electronic Range Control) models, press cancel or clear/off.
- If the Self-Clean cycle still does not stop, turn the power to the Range or Wall Oven off at the household circuit breaker or fuse box.
