Refrigerator - Convertible Meat Drawer

Select models of Side-by-Side style refrigerators feature a convertible meat drawer. This article discusses how to make use of this drawer.

Using the Convertible Meat Drawer on a Side-by-Side Refrigerator

The convertible meat drawer is a meats or vegetables drawer that has its own cold air duct to allow a stream of cold air from the freezer compartment to flow around the drawer. The variable temperature control regulates the airflow from the freezer compartment giving a 2 to 6 degree temperature differential.

If you are storing fresh meats, the control lever should be positioned at meat, the down position, which is the coldest setting. If the lever is left in the meat position for a long period of time, some frost may form on the inside of the drawer.

If you are storing vegetables, the control lever should be positioned at vegetable, the up position, which converts the drawer to normal refrigerator temperature, thus providing extra vegetable storage space.
