Water Softener - Brine Tank Not Draining
It is normal to have some water in the brine tank in a water softener. The Owner's Manual will indicate what is normal for your specific model. If there is a high level of water in the brine tank (salt tank), there are some things you can check prior to scheduling repair service.
Diagnosing a Brine Tank That Is Not Draining on a Water Softener
- A restriction in the drain hose will prevent the salt water from draining. Make sure the drain hose is not pinched or plugged.
- If the drain hose is elevated too high, the water softener cannot drain.
- The nozzle and venturi may be dirty or improperly assembled if it was recently cleaned. See the Owner's Manual for instructions for cleaning and reassembling the nozzle and venturi.
