Gas Dryer - LP Conversion

We recommend a qualified installer or gas servicer convert the gas dryer to the proper gas supply needed. The conversion must be in accordance with the installation instructions and all codes and requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.

Gas dryers are factory-equipped for natural gas. Most gas dryers can be converted for liquid propane (LP) gas, which requires an LP Conversion Kit. The LP Conversion Kit contains all necessary parts and instructions needed to properly convert the dryer.

The LP Conversion Kit can be purchased from GE Appliances Parts or while you are purchasing the gas dryer from a retailer. Consult the dryer's Installation Instructions for information about the LP Conversion kit you may need to purchase. Download a copy of the Owner's Manual or Installation Instructions.

Starting in 2022, there are some electro-mechanical (knobs only) GE and Hotpoint top-load matching gas dryers that come with the LP Conversion Kit in the control panel. If the dryer needs to be converted to LP, check inside the control panel first.
