Electric Range - Coil Burner Buzzing or Humming

On older electric coil (Calrod) burner Electric Ranges, you may hear a vibrating, rattling, or buzzing sound when the burner is used. This is due to the way the coil burners are welded. The surface element welding involves welding one tab of the center trim to the surface element support and bending the other two. This may result in the center trim vibrating under certain conditions. The noise produced by the vibration is often described as a humming or buzzing noise.

It is a good idea to make sure the electric coil burner is installed properly and is securely in place.
