Dishwasher - Water Shut-Off Location

The incoming water supply to the dishwasher is usually located under the kitchen sink. Locate the hot water supply under the sink, then look for a pipe that branches off of the hot water supply line going towards the direction of the dishwasher. On that pipe there should be a faucet type of handle or a hand shut-off valve. The handle may look like an outside faucet handle or may be an oval shut-off valve handle. To make sure the valve is fully closed / turned off, turn the handle clockwise (to the right). This will shut off the water to the dishwasher.

If there is not a faucet handle or shut-off valve handle, or if the handle does not work to shut off the water, then the water to the whole house will have to be turned off. To do this, go to the hot water supply in the home (the water heater). Find the cold water inlet on the water heater. This is usually marked with the word "cold" stamped on the water heater. Trace the cold water line back to where it enters the home. On that line there will be a faucet handle. Turn the handle in a clockwise direction until it stops. This will turn off the water to the entire house.
