Reverse Osmosis - Noises
Normal noises produced by Reverse Osmosis:
- System will make some slight noises as it processes water, even though faucet is off. A slight humming noise from unit as water is dispensed is normal. This is due to the pressure change inside unit as it begins processing more water.
- Slight dripping/gurgle noise from sink drain is normal. This is reject process water flowing down the sink drain.
- If just installed, a whining sound can be heard when the tank is pressurizing for the first time. This noise should stop within a few minutes.
Abnormal noise produced by Reverse Osmosis:
- A loud noise, on new installations, means it was probably installed wrong. A slight adjustment can be made the drain line adapter to minimize noise. This may be too difficult for some people:
- Locate the drain line adapter, it is white plastic piece with outlet on the; side. It has bulb where the tube to the faucet is connected. It is most likely mounted directly below the sink in drain line between sink drain and "P" trap.
- Turn on the R/O faucet so unit is processing water and noise is occurring.
- Rotate/turn the drain adapter in the vertical axis. May need to loosen the nuts at the top and bottom of drain line adapter.
- Continue to rotateadapter to a position that minimizes the noise.
- Retighten nuts.
- A loud whining noise can be caused by missing filters and/or membrane. There are no extra filters that come with the unit. Make sure all filters and membrane are installed properly at time of installation or after sanitizing.
