Asterisk on Dryer Controls

The * (asterisk) on GE dryer controls is the "Preferred Regular Setting."

Starting in 1995, all GE, Hotpoint, and RCA dryers have an indicator in the Auto area of the timer to incicate the most energy efficient place to set the timer for drying a regular cotton load. This selection is based on Department of Energy regulations and is a new government regulation for all dryer manufacturers.
