Dishwasher - Transporting or Moving
This article provides advice on moving a dishwasher that has already been installed and in use. Since they are a built-in appliance, dishwashers are typically left in the location where they are installed when someone is moving to a new address. However, there may be times when the dishwasher is uninstalled and moved to a new location.
Transporting or Moving a Previously Installed Dishwasher
When moving a dishwasher, it is best to drain the pump first by engaging the drain solenoid where the drain hose was attached.
- Disconnect power to the dishwasher.
- Remove the drain hose from the pump, then push down on the plunger in the middle of the solenoid. This will drain the water out.
Dishwashers travel best on their back with the door facing up and latched since dishwashers tend to be a little top heavy when out of the cabinet.
