Dishwasher - Styrofoam

You may notice Styrofoam on your dishwasher and wonder if it needs to be removed. This is typically noticed when installing the dishwasher, though it could be noticed at another point in time.

Understanding Why There Is Styrofoam on a Dishwasher

Dishwashers have Styrofoam placed in the vent area on the dishwasher door to prevent moisture from steam and humidity from dripping. This Styrofoam is part of the product and not the packing, so do not remove it. On electronic control models, removal can cause moisture to reach the circuit board and short it out. If removed, it would require service to replace.

Styrofoam also may be used under the dishwasher and is also not packing material. This is typically used for sound insulation and should not be removed.
