Microwave - Delay Start
Select older microwave ovens had a Delay Start feature which was utilized with the Hold Timer feature. The Hold Timer feature was typically available on convection microwave ovens. Current microwaves do not offer the Delay Start feature. Consult the Owner's Manual for features and use settings available on your specific microwave model.
Using the Delay Start Feature on a Microwave Oven
On models so equipped, the Hold Timer feature could be used to "Delay Start" the microwave oven. This allowed flexibility in programming ahead to save time.
By combining the Hold Timer with a Temperature Cook or Time Cook, the oven could be programmed to hold up to 99 minutes 99 seconds and then start cooking afterward. The Hold Timer could be programmed using the minute/second Timer to offer a holding period between Defrost and Time Cook or the Hold Timer could be used to offer a delay before Time Cook or Temperature Cook.
- When Delay Start was set up and the Start pad was pressed, the fan and oven light came on just as if the microwave was cooking.
- Auto Start was basically the same feature but provided up to a 12-hour delay time versus 99 minutes and 99 seconds for Delay Start. The fan and light did not come on until the time selected was up.
- On turntable models, the turntable would turn during the delay time.
Delay Start could be used with Convection cooking on models equipped with both Delay Start and Convection features. To set-up, do the following:
- Press the Delay Start pad.
- Enter the desired time for the oven to turn on.
- Press the Convection Cook pad.
- Enter the temperature.
- Press the Start pad.
