Washer - Positive Pressure Fill

The water will always reach level selected before the washer can start. This prevents agitation of clothes in insufficient water.

The pressure switch, mounted in the backsplash, is connected to a sensing tube from the lower part of the tub. As water in the tub increases to the pre- selected level, the weight of the water compresses the confined air in the sensing tube and pushes against the diaphragm in the water level switch. When the pre-set water level is reached, the diaphragm moves to close the switch contacts that start the washer running.

Starting in 2015, top-load washers started using an advanced fill algorithm that is timed based. For more information: Top Load Washer - Fill Function
