Microwave - Cake Recipe Conversion

The following guidelines are for trying to convert from conventional cake recipes to microwave cake recipes. Most box mixes have microwave instructions on the box.

 

Batter:  If recipe calls for more than one egg, omit one egg. If recipe is a white cake mix, omit 1/3 cup water and add 1/3 cup oil. Also, many recipes call for unsifted flour. To use sifted flour in place of unsifted, add 2 TBS. to 1 cup sifted flour.

 

Pan Preparation:  8" round glass pan--line with waxed paper 13" x 9" or 12" x 8"--grease bottom and sides if serving from dish. Line with waxed paper if removing to serving plate.

 

Number of Turns:  8" round glass pans--rotate 1/2 turn halfway through time 13" x 9" glass pan--rotate 1/2 turn every 3-4 minutes 12" x 8" glass pan--rotate 1/2 turn every 3-4 minutes.Cupcakes - No rotating is necessary.
