Top Freezer Refrigerator - AutoFill Pitcher
Select top-mount refrigerators have an Auto Fill Pitcher feature which uses a special pitcher designed to be installed under the fresh-food compartment water dispenser. When the refrigerator is connected to the cold water supply line, the AutoFill Pitcher feature allows hands-free refilling of the pitcher for a constant supply of fresh water.
Watch a quick video about the AutoFill Pitcher:
The refrigerator shelf must be at the second position to use the Auto Fill Pitcher. When the Auto Fill pitcher is removed to use water from the pitcher, the pitcher will automatically refill once the pitcher is put back into place. This is to ensure there is always fresh, filtered water available.
The pitcher uses a magnet inside a float container in the pitcher lid to determine if the pitcher needs more water. The automatic filling is dependent upon the height of the float magnet as it raises or lowers with the pitcher water level:
- If the float is at the "LESS THAN FULL" water level, the magnet automatically indicates to the dispenser that the pitcher is not full and starts the fill until the float is at the "FULL" water level.
- If the float is at the "FULL" water level, the magnet automatically indicates to the dispenser that the pitcher is full and will not dispense more water into the pitcher.
The Auto Fill Pitcher in models GAS18PGJ and GAS18PSJ uses filter AFPWF. The AFPWF only filters water to the pitcher. If an icemaker is added to the refrigerator, the AFPWF will not filter the water to the icemaker. Purchase a GE Appliance part online
