Spacemaker Washer - Cleaning Lint / Pump Filter

Spacemaker and Space-Saving Washers have lint filter or a pump filter that requires some routine cleaning maintenance. The cleaning process does vary, depending upon the Washer design. We are explaining these various cleaning procedures below.

Cleaning the Lint or Pump Filter

Current Models

Spacemaker or Space-Saving Washer models made since June of 2018 have lint filters in the wash basket that are consumer removable for cleaning. The lint filters should be cleaned once per month. These are a rectangular shaped filter.

To Clean the Lint Filter

  1. Remove the blue lint filters from the side of the wash basket by unclipping them. You push the top of the filter down and then pull it out from the clips.
  2. Open the lint filter and gently remove any lint. Then, rinse the filter in warm water and close it.
  3. Replace the filter by snapping it back into place in the wash basket.

Earlier Models

From September of 2014 through May of 2018, Spacemaker Portable and Stationary Washers had a pump filter that could be easily accessed and cleaned as needed. This allows you to remove any items that may have been caught in the filter or housing. The model numbers of these Spacemaker Washers were WSLS1500HWW and WSLP1500HWW. These models also featured lint filters in the wash basket that are consumer removable for cleaning. The lint filters should be cleaned once per month. These are a round or disc shaped filter.

  2. Turn the filter cap counter-clockwise and pull to remove. Water may begin to flow out.
  3. Remove any objects and lint from the housing and filter.
  4. Replace the filter by aligning its guide rib with the housing rails, pushing all the way in and turning clockwise to lock in place.
