Cleaning Water Valve Screens on a Washer
Follow the procedure below in order to clean water valve screens.
- Unplug the Washer from the wall outlet.
- Turn off the water at the inlet faucets.
- Pull the Washer away from the wall to allow enough room to get behind it.
- Locate the water hose connections on your Washer. Take a pair of slip-joint pliers and turn the metal hose connections counter-clockwise to remove the hoses.
- Allow the hoses to hang into a bucket to catch any water. The screens are located inside the fitting on the washer.
- Clean the screens by rinsing the screens with water. A soft brush can be used to remove dirt and sediment from the screens.
- Metal screens need to be gently pried out with a small pocket screwdriver.
- Plastic screens can be pulled out using a pair of long-nosed pliers.
- In some instances, you may have to replace the screens if the debris cannot be removed. Once clean, replace the screens, re-attach the hoses, turn the water on and check for leaks. Plug the washer into the wall outlet. Slide the washer back into place. If the above suggestions do not correct the situation, service may be required.
Water Inlet Hose Screens
- Screens in the inlet hoses can be removed and cleaned. These screens help filter out debris in the water supply that could clog the water valve. Clean these just as you would the water valve screens on the Washer.
