Top Load Washer - Cardboard Shipping Material

Top-load washers are shipped with one of three types of ways to keep the tub stable during transport and installation:

• Shipping Rod (prior to 2013)
• Styrofoam at the top of the tub opening (2013 and newer)
• Cardboard cone under the washer (2015 and newer)

On models with a cardboard shipping cone, the cone is attached to a cardboard base that sticks out from under the washer. The cardboard cone fills the space under the washer basket and holds the motor during shipping. Since the cardboard cone it is attached to the cardboard base, it should be difficult to leave in; however, if it is not removed the motor will break down the cardboard.  

This cardboard shipping material does not need to be retained for future use. If the washer is moved, the tub does not need to be stabilized.
