Whole Home Filtration - Leak
Should you experience a leak with a whole house water filtration system, please review the following problem solving tips to try to fix this yourself.
Diagnosing a Whole Home Filtration System That Is Leaking Water
Leaking at Installation Fitting Where It Is Screwed Into Housing
- Ensure the thread tape is good quality and wrapped at least 3 turns, thread tape should be wrapped in a clockwise direction, looking at the fitting from the threaded end.
- Do not use joint / pipe seal compound; it will contaminate the plastic fittings.
Leaking at Sump
- A sump wrench is required to fully seat the sump with some types of filters.
- Check O-Rings on top of the sump for dirt or damage, clean or replace if needed.
- To tighten the sump, turn off the water supply, push the RED button on top of the housing to relieve pressure, then use the sump wrench to tighten the sump.
Leaking at Red Pressure Relief Button
- There may be a small amount of debris on the O-ring that seals the button. Depress the release button several times to remove this dirt from the O-ring.
- Turn off the water feeding the filter and remove the sump to clear this debris.
Note: Some noise is normal upon start up after a filter change, if noise persists remove the filter and reinstall.
