Range & Wall Oven - Delay Start of Cooking
Many Ranges and Wall Ovens offer an option to delay when the oven will come on and start cooking or self-cleaning. This feature may be called Delay Start, Delay Time, Delay Bake or something similar. The instructions for the use of this feature are provided below.
Delaying the Start of Cooking in an Oven
When this feature is used you will program the cooking or self-clean mode, the time the oven should start and the cooking temperature. If the Delay Start, Delay Time or Delay Bake feature on the oven control does not have an AM/PM option for setting the time, then you can only set the oven to delay the start of cooking for a time within 12 hours or less.
This feature turns the oven on at a specific time; however, it will not turn the oven off automatically. The oven will need to be manually turned off or a Time Bake or Cook Time program needs to be set to have the oven turn off automatically, for models which offer this option. If your oven has a Time Bake or Cook Time pad, it will allow you to set the oven to automatically turn on and turn off after a set number of hours.
- When using a Delay Start, Delay Time or Delay Bake feature, foods that spoil easily; for example, milk, eggs, fish, stuffing, poultry and pork, should not be allowed to sit for more than 1 hour before or after cooking. Room temperature promotes the growth of harmful bacteria.
- To determine whether the model you own has these features and how to use them, please consult the Owner's Manual for your specific model.
