Chest Freezer - Circular Tape, Cardboard, or Paper Cover in Rear
You may notice one or more round holes on the back of a chest freezer which are covered. This is normal. It is important to understand that this is not a cover plate where the power cord comes out on the freezer. None of our current upright and chest freezer models come with a rear cover plate. A cover plate is not available and cannot be added.
Understanding the Circular Tape, Cardboard, or Paper Cover on the Rear of a Chest Freezer
Some chest freezers have one or more round holes with a circular tape, cardboard or paper cover/sticker over it. This is where the insulation is foamed into the freezer and the cover acts as a moisture barrier. Do not remove this cover. However, if it has already been removed it is acceptable to use masking tape over the area.
