Understanding the Use of the Sanitize Cycle on a Dryer

Sanitizing dryers that indicate they meet NSF standards meet the NSF P154 protocol, and are certified to effectively sanitize household laundry after washing. The Sanitize cycle reduces certain types of bacteria by 99.9%, including: Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. The antibacterial process occurs when high heat is used during a portion of this drying cycle.
