Water Softener - Resin Life / Replacement

Resin beads are, for the most part, to last the life of a water softener, but high levels of chlorine will deteriorate it faster. The "breaking apart" of the resin is a characteristic of chlorine deterioration. If high levels of chlorine are present in the water, we recommend getting a whole home filter that removes chlorine to extend the life of the resin.Additionally, if living in a warm climate and water softener is installed outside, heat will also cause resin to fail sooner.

Note: Chloramine will not deteriorate a water softener.
