Vent Hood - Required Over a Range or Cooktop

Vent hoods are able to remove heat, steam, smoke and odors created while cooking on a range or cooktop below. While it is beneficial to use a vent hood, most ranges and cooktops do not require that a vent hood be installed above it.

Using a Ventilation System With a Range or Cooktop

Most range or cooktop models do not require a ventilation system or have a CFM requirement. However, we recommend checking the local residential codes in your area to see if one is required.

There may be a few larger sized Commercial style or Professional style ranges or cooktops that require use with a vent hood.
