Dishwasher - White Grease on Gasket or Tub

A clear or white grease around the door gasket or on the floor of the tub of a new dishwasher is normal. The grease (may appear as a goopy substance) is a lubricant used to keep the door gasket seated properly and keep from making a popping noise while the gasket is still stiff and new.

This grease is NSF approved (food-grade) and does not need to be removed before washing your dishes. The grease will wash out after using detergent in the dishwasher a few times. It can be wiped off; however, you could hear a small popping noise as the door is closed for brief period of time until the gasket "sets." This will not harm the dishwasher.
