GE Appliance - Built-In WiFi vs Optional WiFi

GE Appliances has a variety of smart appliances that you can keep track of using the SmartHQ™ app on your smartphone. You can even use them hands-free if you have Amazon Alexa or the Google Assistant*.

When it comes to our WiFi enabled smart appliances, we have two kinds: Built-In WiFi and Optional WiFi.

Defining Built-In WiFi Versus Optional WiFi

Built-In WiFi (Powered by SmartHQ)

A WiFi communication card is built into the appliance so that it can communicate with your smartphone. This allows for remote monitoring, control and notifications. You will need WiFi in your home.

Optional WiFi

These appliances are WiFi compatible using the optional Connect Module (powered by SmartHQ): PBX23W00Y1. To connect this appliance to your WiFi, you will need to purchase the Connect Module. The Connect Module plugs into your appliance and allows your appliance to communicate with your smartphone for remote appliance monitoring, control and notifications. You will need WiFi in your home.
