Bottom Freezer Refrigerator - Drawer Frozen Shut
If the Freezer Drawer on a Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator is stuck closed and will not open, there is likely moisture that has frozen inside the Freezer that is preventing the Drawer from opening. This moisture can be a result of having the Freezer Drawer open with regular usage, or the Freezer Drawer left slightly open accidentally.
Correcting a Freezer Drawer That Is Frozen Shut
Try the following to remedy the concern with the Freezer Drawer.
- Unplug the Refrigerator and allow the Freezer to defrost. This can take about 24 to 48 hours.
- Once defrosted, open the Freezer Drawer and wipe any moisture dry, especially the rails that the Drawer sits on.
- Allow the Freezer to air dry for 24 hours prior to plugging the Refrigerator back in.
