Front-Load Washer - Stacked Washer and Dryer with Pedestals and Risers

Most front load washers and their matching dryers offer pedestals or risers that can be installed under the individual unit. When a washer and dryer is stacked together, they cannot be installed as one unit with a pedestal or riser. This is for both safety and for accessibility concerns.

Stacking Versus Using a Pedestal or Riser

Stacking a compatible front load washer and dryer together is a perfect way to utilize small spaces while having a full sized washer and dryer. Stacking kits ensure the dryer is placed on the washer safely. They may be a separate purchase, depending on the model.

If you're using a pedestal or riser with each individual appliance, it can help you reach inside the washer or dryer more comfortably. Pedestals have storage drawers, which add the benefit of having somewhere to storage detergent, fabric softener, or dryer sheets. Just make sure you're using the correct pedestal or riser for your model.

Other Space-Saving Options

If the space does not allow you to stack a washer and dryer, there are two other options that may work for you: A stacked washer/dryer that comes as one appliance or a Washer/Dryer Combo that washes and dries in one basket.
