Air Conditioner - Error, Fault or Function Codes

Fault or error codes are programmed in Air Conditioner controls to help service technicians quickly diagnose issues with the appliance. In the event that the electronic control displays an EP or any other fault or error code, a trained service technician should be called to diagnose and correct the issue. We do not have a list of all the fault or error codes and their meanings since they all indicate a service issue.

Addressing a Fault or Error Code Issue with an Air Conditioner

  • If the electronic control on your Air Conditioner has a fault or error code in the display, try unplugging the appliance for a minute or two in an effort to reset the Air Conditioner. After a minute or two, plug it back in and see if the reset was successful.
  • Portable Air Conditioners and most Window Air Conditioners are not serviceable and don't have repair parts. For warranty details, consult the Owner's Manual for the specific model you own.
  • For Built-In models and Window Air Conditioners that can be serviced, please schedule a repair appointment with GE Appliances Factory Service.
