Refrigerator - Boil Water Advisory

Your refrigerator should be connected to potable drinking water only. If the area where you live has been without water or is under a "Boil Water" alert, turn off the water supply to your refrigerator and turn your icemaker off. Do not use water from your water dispenser or new ice from your icemaker.

Clearing the System When the Water Is Drinkable Again

  1. Dispense water from the dispenser on the refrigerator (if applicable) until no water comes out.

  2. Replace the water filter. You can order a new water filter from our GE Appliances Parts & Accessories website.

  3. Throw out all the ice from the ice bucket.

  4. Turn the water and icemaker back on.

BEFORE Using Water and/or Ice Again the CDC Recommends the Following

  • Throwing out the next three to five batches of ice.

  • Flush out (dispense water from) the water dispenser for three to five minutes.

  • Wash and sanitize the ice storage bin and ice dispenser chute using soap and water.
