Dehumidifier - Cleaning and Maintenance

To keep your Dehumidifier working efficiently and properly, we recommend that you regularly clean the appliance. We are providing cleaning guidance for the various parts of a Dehumidifier below.

Cleaning and Maintaining a Dehumidifier

Water Reservoir Tank

  1. Turn off and unplug the appliance.
  2. Empty the water reservoir.
  3. Wash the tank with dish soap and water. The water tank can be cleaned using a solution of 90% water and 10% bleach to prevent mildew. Swish the solution around in the tank / bucket, then empty and rinse with plain water.
  4. Slide the tank / bucket back into place.

Filter

For older Dehumidifier models, use the following procedure for cleaning the Air Filter:

  1. Turn off and unplug the appliance.
  2. Remove the filter by grasping the filter handle and pulling straight out. It will slide out easily. Never operate the Dehumidifier without the filter installed.
    • HM50/HM70 models: Remove the bucket and then pull the air filter down from below the front louvers. Then, pull the bottom edge of the filter away from the appliance to remove.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner to clean the air filter. If it is very dirty, wash the filter with dish soap and warm (not hot) water. DO NOT use any chemical cleaners.
  4. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinstalling.
  5. To reinstall the air filter, slide the filter back inside the tracks and push inward.
  6. Check every 2 to 3 weeks to see if it needs cleaning.

For newer Dehumidifier models, use the following procedure for cleaning the Air Filter:

The air filter behind the rear grille should be checked and cleaned at least every 250 hours of operation or more often if necessary. After 250 hours of operation, the Filter indicator light will glow to remind you to clean the filter. Remove the filter and clean it. Replace the filter, then press and hold the filter button for 3 seconds.

  1. Remove the rear grille and the filter will be attached.
  2. Clean the filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and let the filter dry before replacing it.

Inlet / Outlet Grilles and the Case

  1. Turn off and unplug the appliance.
  2. Clean the grilles and case with dish soap and warm water. Do not use bleach or abrasive cleaners.
  3. Wipe dry before plugging the Dehumidifier back in.
