Gas Burner Pan Size

When selecting a pan, the primary constraint on the maximum pan diameter is dependent on whether you are using 1 burner or multiple burners at the same time, as well as the continuous surface grate area available.

These are general (approximate) pot and pan sizing guidelines when cooking on a single burner to help you determine the best size pan for your needs:

  • 5,000-9,000 BTU burners: Can fit a  pan bottom with outside diameter of approximately 6 ½"

  • 10,000-12,000 BTU burners: Can fit a  pan bottom with outside diameter of approximately 8 ½

  • 15,000+ BTU burners: Can fit a  pan bottom with outside diameter of approximately 11 ¾"
