Gas Range - Oven Light on JGB700

The free-standing gas range JGB700 (Models: JGB700SEJ, JGB700EEJ, JGB700DEJ) started production in August of 2015. Initial production models do not have an oven light switch / button on the control panel. The only way to turn on the oven light is to open the door. While the JGB700 model series is no longer manufactured, this article documents the oven light feature usage for those who may still own the model.

Using the Oven Light on the JGB700 Series Gas Range

Due to the popularity of the feature, a running change was made to newer production models starting December of 2016. Models manufactured December 2016 and after have an Oven Light pad on the control panel. This allows you to turn on the oven light without opening the door. The pictures for this model on our GE Appliances web site have been changed to show this model with an Oven Light pad.

Most dealers would have had the original model without the Oven Light pad on their showroom floor. If this range was purchased new, it would have the Oven Light feature pad if made after December of 2016 as seen in the features and pictures on the website.
