Make Sure the Icemaker Is Turned On
Some models have the icemaker On/Off control on the Refrigerator control panel. There are four different styles of control panels. The following descriptions list how to check each style. Look for your style and check to make sure the icemaker is turned on.- Cap Touch Control with Ice Button
- To check and see if the icemaker is turned on, press and hold the Ice button for approximately 3 seconds. The icemaker status will show to the right of the words Ice Maker (located under the temperature display setting).
- To change the status of the icemaker, press and hold the Ice button for approximately 3 seconds.
- Cap Touch Control with Ice Button with Dual Icemaker Option
- To check and see if the icemaker is turned on, touch the Ice Maker button (located on the left side of the control under the Freezer setting). The icemaker status will show to the right of the words Ice Maker (located under the temperature display setting).
- To change the status of the icemaker, touch the Ice Maker button until the desired setting is displayed.
- NOTE: Not all bottom freezer refrigerators have the two icemakers. Ice Bottom will be displayed on the control after an icemaker is installed in the freezer section.
- Control on Non-Ice Dispenser Models
- To check and see if the icemaker is turned on, open the left Refrigerator door and look for the light indicator to the left of the words Ice Maker.
- To change the status of the icemaker, touch Ice Maker until the desired setting is displayed.
- LCD Touch Screen (Cafe)
- To check and see if the icemaker is turned on, touch Settings (top right corner of the screen), touch the right arrow until you see the words Ice Maker. This will show the words On or Off.
- To change the status of the icemaker, touch Ice Maker until the desired setting is displayed.
Check the Temperature Settings
- For optimal ice production, temperature settings should be 0° Fahrenheit for the Freezer and 37° Fahrenheit for the Fresh Food sections. Try adjusting the temperature settings to colder settings by one degree every 24 hours.
Check the Water Filter
- Pockets of air in the water distribution system may affect ice production. After the water filter is installed properly, run two gallons of water through the water dispenser to remove air from the system. If no filter is installed, a filter bypass plug must be installed.
Check the Icemaker Feeler Arm
- Clumped ice or ice clusters in the ice bin can prevent the icemaker's feeler arm from working properly. See the Owner's Manual for instructions on cleaning the ice bin.
Check the Water Supply Connection
- Make sure a cold water supply is connected at the rear of the Refrigerator by a copper or SmartConnect tubing.
IM5D Accessory Icemaker Kit
- If you have added an IM5D icemaker to the freezer of your Bottom Freezer Refrigerator, check the following:
-
- Both electrical connectors from the icemaker are plugged into the freezer wall.
- The icemaker fill cup has been attached to the icemaker.
- The water valve and water line have been installed on the back of the Refrigerator (depending on the model, you may have extra parts). This is normal.
- Ice Bottom ON is displayed on the control panel.
