Zoneline - Venting into an Attic

We do not recommend venting into an attic space for several reasons:

  • Since attic temperatures (even when vented) are usually much higher than outdoor temps and the units are air exchange units, there is a good chance that the unit can overheat in situations and trip the overloads. Repeated tripping and high temps can cause premature failure of parts and components.
  • The units also create condensate as they cool and dehumidify the indoor space. Some of this condensate is vaporized by the slinger ring and thus put into the attic air space which can cause mold and mildew growth or buildup.
  • Excess condensate drips out the back of the sleeve and possibly onto the attic floor. So a plan to pipe and route the condensate outside the building would be necessary.
