Dryer - What is Normal and Not Normal with Steam Setting
Some gas and electric dryers have a Steam feature. When using the Steam setting on your dryer, you may notices things you may not be used to seeing with a dryer. Models with Steam features require a cold water connection to use these features.
Understanding What Is Normal and Not Normal When Using the Steam Setting on a Dryer
It Is Normal To Experience the Below
- Steam will condense on the inner door so you may have water drip from the door when opened after a Steam Cycle.
- Steam is released at different times in the cycle so you may not see steam at the beginning of the cycle.
- For the Steam Refresh cycle the extended/dewrinkle tumble will automatically be turned on and cannot be turned off. You will notice the dryer continues to tumble after the display states complete.
Items That Are Not Normal and Information to Help Correct the Issue
Small amount of water on the floor in front of the door.
- This can be caused by an inadequate load size for the steam cycle selected, excess steam condenses inside the cabinet and leaks out. Solution - If using the Steam Dewrinkle cycle, manually reduce the time. If using the Steam Refresh cycle, add more garments to the load.
Water on the floor behind the dryer.
- Loose water hose connection with the valve. Solution - Tighten the connection.
- The hose is missing the rubber washer at the connection valve. Solution - Install the rubber washer provided with the hose.
Cannot see steam at any time during the cycle.
- The steam nozzle might be clogged with debris from your water supply. Solution - Order the dryer nozzle assembly kit WE25M71 or schedule a service appointment with Bodewell.
Clothes are still wrinkled after a steam cycle.
- Too many garments may cause this. Solution - Load fewer garments; manually increase the cycle time.
Clothes are still wet after a steam cycle.
- A dirty lint filter can cause this. Solution - Clean the lint filter.
- If the load is of children or infant clothing, you will need to use the Steam Refresh cycle.
