Refrigerators - Moving or Transporting Your Monogram Refrigerator
Consider doing the following when you move your Monogram refrigerator to a new location:
-
Unplug the refrigerator or turn it off at the controls to allow the evaporator time to defrost.
-
Take out all of your food and clean the interior.
-
Place a box of baking soda in the unit to absorb moisture and odor.
-
Secure loose items with tape, such as: the grille, shelves, storage pans, ice trays, ice storage bucket, covers, and other removable parts. This prevents their coming loose and causing damage.
-
Be sure to cover the outside of your refrigerator to keep it safe from scratches and other damage.
-
Load the refrigerator into a moving van, truck, etc.
-
All Monogram refrigerators must be transported in an upright position. They can, however, be tilted to the side when placed on a dolly to move it. Details are listed in the installation instructions included with the product.
-
Exception: Non-Built-In SxS models can be laid on the freezer side when necessary. That door is less likely to come open. If it has been necessary to transport the SxS refrigerator on its side, it should stand upright for an equal amount of time as it was on its side before plugging it in. If it was on its side for more than a day, leave standing for 24 hours before running.
-
-
When using a dolly or hand truck, always truck from the side. Possible damage could occur if trucked from the front or rear.
-
Exception: Some Column models for 30" to 31" doorways before packing is removed, can be tilted back when placed on dolly to take into the home.
-
-
-
Make sure the refrigerator is properly secured in the moving van to prevent rolling and damage.
-
Once at the new location, leave standing for 30 minutes before running.
Tips:
-
Don't forget to measure your doorways and entry ways in both your existing and new home! Make sure the refrigerator will fit through your front door, down the hall, and around any corners.
-
If you have an older refrigerator, you may want to consider leaving it behind. New models are more energy efficient and most dealers will deliver and install the new one for you. Take a look at our current Monogram Refrigerators.
