Opal Ice Maker - Ice Maker is Hot
The Opal Ice Maker does not keep ice frozen in the ice bin. Water from the thawed ice is recirculated back into the reservoir. The appliance is typically not hot under most conditions.
Diagnosing Reasons for the Opal Ice Maker Running Hot
If you're noticing that the Opal is hot, please check the following:
- Make sure you are filling the reservoir to the maximum fill level with water.
- If the water level is filled to the lower fill level it will only create about a 1/4 bin of ice.
- The Opal can heat up and the rate of ice production can be reduced, depending on the installation location. For example, being installed within an enclosed cabinet or in a warm location can impact ice production.
- If the appliance is installed in a cabinet, confirm there are 3 inches of clearance on all sides to help with air flow and to allow the warm air to vent away from the Opal.
- To clear the excess heat coming from the back of the appliance, try turning your Opal off for an hour or two.
- When you turn the Opal back on, run it through two cleaning cycles with water. You may also try running warm water through the machine in the cleaning mode.
