ClearView Air Conditioner - Care and Cleaning
As with any air conditioner, you need to keep the ClearView air conditioner filters clean so that the appliance can perform well. You also want to clean the case and grille regularly. The Owner's Manual is the best source of information about maintaining your air conditioner; however, we have also provided some cleaning tips below.
Maintaining a ClearView Air Conditioner
Cleaning the Filters
On the indoor side there are 3 filters, the side filter, front filter (inlet grille), and the drain plug filter. All filters should be checked and cleaned at least every 250 hours or more often, if needed.
Turn off the air conditioner and unplug it from the wall outlet before cleaning the filters. Do not use the air conditioner without a filter because dirt and lint can clog it and affect operation.
Clean the filters with warm, soapy water. Do not clean the filters in the dishwasher.
Rinse with cool water and let the filters dry before replacing them.
Removing the Front Filter
First, open the front grille on the indoor unit. Pull the tabs on the top sides of the grille toward you. Set the grille aside.
Pull down on the top black tabs on the filter.
Once the top of the filter has been popped out of place, lift upwards on the filter and remove it from the appliance.
Removing the Side Filter
Locate the tab on the left side of the indoor unit and pull the filter straight out.
Removing the Drain Plug Filter
First, have a bucket or other suitable means for collecting water under the indoor unit when the plug filter is removed. Water will not come out after removing the drain cap; however, it will begin to drain as soon as the plug filter is removed.
Locate the drain cap on the right side of the indoor unit.
Remove the drain cap and pull the plug straight out. The filter is attached to the plug.
Cleaning the Front Grille and Case
Turn the air conditioner off and unplug it from the wall outlet before cleaning.
Wipe clean with water and a mild detergent. Do not use bleach or abrasive cleaners.
Cleaning the Outdoor Coils
The coils on the outdoor side of the air conditioner should be checked regularly. If they are clogged with dirt or debris, they may be professionally cleaned.
Draining the Air Conditioner
Even though draining the air conditioner is not part of the regular cleaning and maintenance of the appliance, you may find there are times it is needed. As an example, you may be preparing for the winter or you have an FL code on your display. You can get instructions for draining the air conditioner from the Owner's Manual or by reviewing our ClearView Air Conditioner - Draining the Appliance article.
