You may have questions about using the Steakhouse Mode on your appliance. The Steakhouse Mode requires the use of the Temperature Probe. Below is a list of FAQs and Tips for using the Probe and Steakhouse Mode.

Probe placement is key for this feature. The Probe is to be inserted horizontally into the steak. The Probe shaft should be fully inserted into the meat for proper accuracy. Additionally, the tip of the probe should be in the thickest portion of the steak, centered vertically.

  • For smaller steaks, such as Filet Mignon, it is recommended to place two steaks together on the same Probe so that the shaft of the Probe is not exposed.

  • If it is impossible to fully insert the Probe and a portion must remain exposed, the Probe may read a higher temperature than the actual internal temperature of the steak. This could possibly result in an underdone steak. Please add additional Broil High time at the end of the cycle if your steak is underdone or select the next doneness level up (Medium if you want Medium Rare). For example, if your steak is less done than desired after resting, place the steak back on the cookware, into the oven, and cook it on Broil High for 2 minute increments, resting 5 minutes in between. You can expect a 2 minute broil to increase the doneness one level. The next time you try Steakhouse Mode consider choosing a higher doneness level.

The temperature on the App does not match the temperature on the Control Panel display.

  • The App temperature data may take a little longer to report causing a few degrees difference between the App temperature display and the Control Panel display.

A store-bought meat thermometer is reading a different temperature than my Probe. Which one should I believe? Is it normal to be a few degrees off between the store-bought meat thermometer and the Probe?

  • This type of temperature reading variation is not uncommon and may be related to three causes:

  • A difference between thermometers - the oven probe versus the meat thermometer.

  • The time needed for a thermometer to achieve readings – temperature probes may have different response times.

  • The area where the thermometer or Probe is placed in the meat – the steak will not be the exact same temperature in all areas throughout the meat.

What happens if I take my Probe out mid-way through the cook cycle?

  • To ensure proper operation, cancel the mode and restart it, inserting the Probe into the oven outlet when prompted.

The cord on my Probe is not long enough, it doesn’t reach the Probe jack in the oven or my Probe jack is located on the opposite side of the picture.

  • Adjust the steak position on the rack position recommended to allow a connection. The probe wire should not need to be strained. Adjust the placement of the steak or pan on the rack position recommended if you need to.
