Opal Ice Maker - UV Water Treatment

Current Opal™ ice makers with a "Light" button have an interior LED light that can be turned on or off as needed. It makes getting ice in the bucket easier, or can be used as a night light. It is not a UV light for treating water.

UV Light

For a brief time in 2022, a few models did have a UV Water Treatment Light. They featured a built-in UV LED that turned on automatically and stayed on while the ice maker is making ice. There was no control for turning the UV LED on or off. If you have a model from 2022 and there is a light that is staying on while the Opal is making ice, it is the UV light.

Instead of a UV water treatment light, we have focused on other, more effective ways of keeping your ice fresh and Opal Ice maker clean.

Fresh Ice

Enjoy the freshest ice thanks to a batch-based ice system that filters and recirculates water to continually create new, fresh ice. Models with WiFi can connect to our SmartHQ™ app on your phone so that you can monitor ice production and even schedule ice for when you want fresh ice available.

Most Opal ice makers have a water filter. Using the water filter (P4INKFILTR) for your Opal ice maker means your nugget ice is always clean and pure. Count on the water filter to remove chlorine taste and odor so you can and enjoy your ice every time you make it. We recommend replacing the water filter every 3 months for best results. The Opal ice maker Owner's Manual is the best source for learning how to replace your filter. You can purchase replacement filters through the SmartHQ app or through our online Parts & Accessories site.

Keeping your Opal Clean

You can skip the scrubbing thanks to an advanced cleaning system that helps sanitize (preventing mold and mildew growth) and descale (cutting down on scale and mineral build-up) when used regularly, keeping ice tasting fresh and machine performance at its best. If your Opal is connected to WiFi, you can get instant cleaning notifications on your phone.

Get the freshest nugget ice thanks to an innovative scale-inhibiting water filter (P4INKSFLTR) that reduces the build-up of scale within the ice maker while also removing bad flavors, chlorine and VOCs from the water.
