GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Filter Cleaning
The GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer with Ventless Heat Pump Technology will change the way you do laundry, eliminating the hassle of waiting around to transfer a load from the washer to the dryer and giving you valuable time back to do the things you enjoy.Lint Filter and Foam Filter
Your Combo Washer/Dryer has an easy access filter assembly located between the display screen and the dispenser drawers. The filter compartment contains a two-stage housing consisting of a lint filter and a foam filter. To access the filters, slowly remove the filter frame from the Combo by pulling straight out and pressing on the tab to release.Lint Filter
The UltraFast Combo creates very little lint, and the lint particles are very fine. The mesh lint filter should be cleaned at least once after every 5th dry cycle or when the appliance reminds you to do so. This allows the lint to combine into larger particles and makes cleaning easier. If your Combo display shows a fault code of 353 (F353) or if you receive a "Lint Filter Clogged" notification in your SmartHQ app, we also recommend cleaning the lint filter to try to resolve the issue.Cleaning the Lint Filter
- First remove the lint filter assembly from the Combo and manually clean any lint that may have accumulated on the mesh filter by simply running your finger across the surface to pick up the lint.
- Check for a waxy buildup that may have formed in the pores of the mesh lint filter. This buildup can occur if you're using wash additives or fabric softener sheets. Every 50 cycles, we recommended following the steps below to remove this buildup.
- Take the lint filter assembly to a sink and separate the foam filter from the mesh filter and frame. Clean the foam filter then set aside. See the Foam Filter section below for cleaning instructions of the foam filter.
- Thoroughly hand wash the mesh lint filter and filter frame gently with warm water and a soft bristle brush on both sides to remove any coating or buildup on the filter and/or frame. Continue gently scrubbing until water runs through all areas of the filter without pooling. You can inspect the mesh lint filter by holding it up to a light while the foam filter is removed to ensure that it is clean.
- Rinse off the lint filter and filter frame using running water from your faucet.
- Dry thoroughly and replace, reassembling the foam filter and the mesh filter to the filter frame by aligning and snapping the foam filter frame into place.
- When reinstalling the lint filter, you may notice that there is a space where it seems the filter should go further back. This is normal. There is an intentional pocket of space at the back of the compartment so that if lint or foreign objects fall on the filter track, they can be pushed back to avoid blocking the filter or preventing the filter frame from sliding back into the closed position.
Replacement Lint Filter
- Under normal use and care, the lint filter should last the life of the appliance. If a new filter needed for any reason, order a replacement lint filter: WH01X35685.
- Note that there is one screw that holds the lint filter to the handle.
Foam Filter
Clean the black foam filter after approximately 50 cycles, or when notified by the Combo. The foam filter has an approximate lifespan of 1000 cycles, which is about 2.5 years for an average household.Cleaning the Foam Filter
- Open the filter frame, remove the foam filter, and rinse the lint off the foam filter with warm running water. Insert the foam filter back into the filter frame, using the locating tabs for guidance.
- The plastic frame behind the foam filter can also be cleaned when needed. Rinse it under a faucet with warm water.
- Before you put the filter frame back in the Combo, make sure the filter is properly aligned in the frame.
Replacement Foam Filter
- The foam filter catches lint and helps keep it off the evaporator coils. If the foam is torn, deformed, or otherwise damaged, do not reuse it.
- There is no need to order replacement foam filters prematurely rather than cleaning them, as is the suggested procedure. Replacement is for when the foam pad is DAMAGED or unusable. It is not for when it is dirty.
- Should you need to replace the foam filter, the foam filter can be purchased from our GE Appliances Parts & Accessories web page. The GE Appliances part number for the foam filter is WH01X35719.
Filter Compartment
Every 50 cycles (or as needed), clean inside the filter compartment by removing the filter frame. To clean the filter compartment, use either a vacuum with a crevice tool attachment or a long, skinny brush like the one found in the Appliance Brush Set, GE Appliances part number PM14X10056. When cleaning, be careful not to damage or bend the fins of the evaporator, which is just inside the area to the right of the opening. Lint in this area will not affect the dry performance.Cleaning Notification
Should you notice a change in dryer performance at any time, vacuum the lint from the filter frame and inside the filter opening. The Combo will suggest when to clean the lint filter and foam filter. These notifications appear on the Combo Washer/Dryer display, as well as in the SmartHQ™ App.Step-By-Step Video Instructions
