GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Fault & Error Codes and Status Messages

Your GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo has a Consumer Help Indicator (CHI) that will display messages on the LCD display. The Consumer Help Indicator is our way to communicate a simple remedy for certain situations without the need to call for service. The following describes the messages you may notice scrolling on your display when you return to start another load.

Consumer Help Indicator Messages and Solutions

Spin Light Blinking

If the Combo detects an out-of-balance condition, the Spin light will blink during the remaining portion of the cycle. It will then stay illuminated for a short time after the cycle is complete. When this occurs, the Combo is taking actions to correct the out-of-balance condition and complete the cycle normally. In some cases, the Combo may not be able to balance the load and spin up to full speed.

  • Solution: If you notice the load is more wet than normal at the end of the cycle, redistribute the load evenly in the wash basket and run a Drain & Spin or Rinse & Spin cycle. You'll find details for setting the Rinse/Drain & Spin cycle in the "Getting Started - Options" section of your Owner's Manual.

"Confirm H2O Supply is ON” Message

If your Combo detects that water is not entering the appliance, you'll see this message to confirm the water turned on. As soon as the message appears to scroll, the Combo will initiate a 4 minute lock-out period. The Combo controls won’t respond or change during this time.

After the 4 minutes, you can begin your cycle again. If you try to bypass the lock-out period by unplugging the appliance, the 4-minute timer will start over again.
  • Solution 1: Check your house water supply hose to make sure there is water going to the Combo. Make sure at least one of the supply valves is turned on.
  • Solution 2: If you're using the optional sink unicouple hookup (WH41X36697), make sure the sink faucet is turned on. A Y-splitter (WX14X10014) is recommended so both Hot and Cold water inlets on the Combo have a water supply source for all the washing cycles to work properly.

“Cycle Canceled Draining” Message

If the Combo was paused for longer than 24 hours, or if the machine has stopped itself before the cycle was complete, the message that draining was canceled may show. As soon as this message appears, the Combo will initiate a 4 minute lock-out period. The Combo controls won’t respond or change during this time.
  • Solution: Start your cycle again after waiting the 4 minute period. If you try to bypass the lock-out period by unplugging the Combo, the 4 minute timer starts over again.

“DOOR OPEN” Message

If you try to start a cycle when the door is not fully closed, the Combo will display the message that the door is open.
  • Solution: The Combo will not start another cycle until the door is closed. Make sure it is shut and fully closed.

“Check and Clean Drain Pump Filter” Message

When the Combo detects a restriction in the drain area, the message to check and clean the pump filter will be displayed. Restrictions are often caused by loose items getting caught in the pump filter.

Error / Fault Codes

"353" Fault Code

If you get a 353 error on the display, it most often means that the lint filter is clogged with fabric softener residue.

  • Solution: Clean the lint filter by separating the foam filter from the plastic mesh screen. Rinse the foam filter with warm water and clean the screen using water and a soft bristled brush. After the lint filter is put back in place, run a wash & dry cycle.
  • You can find more detailed information about cleaning your lint filter by visiting GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Filter Cleaning

"18" Fault Code

If you get an 18 error on the display, The pump filter needs to be cleaned. In addition to this fault code, you may find you're getting very wet loads at the end of a wash cycle, or your dry times are  longer than they previously were.
