GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Pet Hair Removal Feature

With the innovative high-speed air flow system of your UltraFast Combo, the Pet Hair Removal Mode delivers a better clean by removing pet hair and dander from fabrics before the wash cycle even begins. This uniquely designed closed-loop system allows dry pet hair to be separated from your clothing for easy collection in the EZ Access Lint Filter. So, when this pre-wash cycle feature is activated, your Combo can effectively vacuum and capture dry pet hair. When the cycle is complete, you should notice that much of the pet hair has been removed from your load and that little to no pet hair is collected on your Combo's gasket.

Pet Hair Software Update

On National Pet Day, April 11th of 2024, the NEW Pet Hair Removal Feature rolled out via an Over-the-Air software update for WiFi-connected Combo owners. To confirm you have the latest software:

1. Open the SmartHQ app on your smartphone.
2. Select Combination Washer Dryer.
3. Click on the gear at the top right of the screen.
4. Select Product Info.
5. Select Software Update.
6. If an update is available, follow the steps in the SmartHQ app to update the software.

When the Pet Hair software version is updated, the Pet Hair feature is not automatically activated. For the first five cycles after the software is updated, you will see a "New Feature!" screen, informing you about the Pet Hair feature. If you select "Enable Now", this screen will stop displaying. If you select "Set Up Later in Menu", the "New Feature!" display will show for the first five cycles and then disappear. There is also a QR code on the display screen that takes you to a video of the feature.

Steps for Using the Pet Hair Mode

Pet Hair Mode Using SmartDispense™ (Recommended)

Using SmartDispense along with the Pet Hair Mode allows you to make your cycle selections, load your laundry, and walk away until it's time to unload your clean, hair-free clothes. Here are your set-up instructions:

1. Press Menu on your Combo's control panel.
2. Select the duration of the pre-cycle no-heat air fluff time to 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes, depending on the amount of pet hair in the load.
   • 15 minutes should provide sufficient results, but you may desire to increase the air fluff time to improve performance.
3. Select the SmartDispense Detergent option (and SmartDispense Softener if desired) under the Wash Options on your control panel. Using SmartDispense will ensure a smooth transition into the wash cycle after the pet hair has been removed, with no pausing of the cycle.
   • Do not add any additives into the wash basket prior to activating the Pet Hair mode, including powders, beads, and pods for fragrance.
   • If you prefer manually adding your detergent and softener and putting additives directly in the wash basket, please see the alternative instructions below for removing pet hair without using SmartDispense.
4. Load your Combo with your items that you would like to clean using the Pet Hair Removal Mode option.
5. Press Start.
   • After the pre-cycle Pet Hair Removal air flow completes, the wash cycle will automatically start and proceed directly into the cleaning of your clothes using the cycle and options you have chosen.

Removing Pet Hair Without Using SmartDispense​​​​​​

Although we recommend using SmartDispense when using the Pet Hair Mode, you can also achieve similar results by following the instructions below to manually add your laundry products:

1. Place your load needing pet hair removal into your Combo.
2. Select the Air Fluff cycle, available through the Downloaded option on your control panel. This cycle can be run for a minimum of 15 minutes, up to 4 hours, depending on the amount of pet hair in the load.
3. After the Air Fluff cycle is complete, follow the Manual Dose instructions for adding detergent, softener, and additives found in your Owner's Manual and/or in the instructions found in the following article: GE Profile™ UltraFast Combo Washer/Dryer - Dispenser Drawer Operation.

Pet Hair Mode Tips

• When selecting the Pet Hair Mode, avoid putting additives or other powders into the wash basket.
• You will notice that the paw print icon will show up next to the word Wash on your Combo's display panel, signifying that the Pet Hair Removal function will run for the prescribed time before the actual wash cycle begins.
• This mode will remain ON for subsequent cycles until you turn it OFF in the Menu.
• It is not necessary to clean the lint filter until after the entire cycle (WASH + DRY or WASH only) completes.
