Microwave - Staining or Browning Inside the Cavity

If the interior of your microwave is turning brown or staining, it is usually a result of food being overcooked.

Cause for Browning

The cavity paint is designed to handle high temperatures without discoloration; however, burning foods like popcorn, potatoes, etc. can sometimes discolor the cavity, especially if there is smoke. As long as there isn't coating peeling off, the discoloration won't affect the functioning of the unit. Microwave cavity paint is applied using a special process during manufacturing, so there is not a way to cover the staining.
