Refrigerator - TurboCool Setting
The TurboCool™ setting "revs up" the refrigerator, cooling it quickly after frequent or extended door openings, or when hot items are placed inside. This setting maximizes the cooling ability of the fresh food compartment.
Some refrigerator models offer a TurboFreeze™ setting in addition to the TurboCool™ setting. If so equipped, you can even use TurboCool together with the freezer compartment's TurboFreeze setting for maximum effectiveness. Check out our
Refrigerator - TurboFreeze Setting article for information about this feature.
How TurboCool Works
- When TurboCool™ is selected, your refrigerator compressor is activated and the fans turn on at high speed. The fans remain on even when the door is opened.
- The fresh food temperature will then run on its coldest setting for an 8 hour period or until TurboCool is turned off (whichever comes first).
- You will typically see tC in the temperature display when the fridge is set to TurboCool. On the display, it may look like an EC, an upside down F with a C, or something similar. This is not an error code, it is the indicator for the TurboCool (tC) setting.
Turning TurboCool ON or OFF
- Press and hold the Fridge pad for 3 seconds, or, on models with a touch screen (LCD) display, press Express Mode.
