GE Appliance - Protective Tape and Label Removal
When a new appliance is delivered and uncrated, it may have protective tape or labels on the appliance. You want to quickly and safely remove this and get the appliance into operation. Here are our suggestions for accomplishing this task.
Removing Appliance Protective Tape and Labels
The most effective way to remove adhesive left from film, packing tape, stickers, tags or labels on a new appliance and ensure no damage is done to the finish of the product is to apply one of the following.
- Household Liquid Dishwashing Detergent
- Mineral Oil
- Cooking Oil
- Goo Gone®
Apply any of these products using a soft, clean cloth and allow it to soak on the film, packing tape, sticker, tag or label. After soaking for a while, wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use a plastic pad or the equivalent on the appliance. Wipe the appliance dry and then apply polish to thoroughly clean and protect the surface.
Observe the Following Precautions
- Do not allow the mineral oil, cooking oil, or Goo Gone® to come in contact with any plastic parts, especially the inner liner of a Refrigerator. These items will destroy the plastic parts.
- Do not use Goo Gone® on stainless steel appliances unless you have tested it in an inconspicuous area first. In some cases, Goo Gone® can discolor or darken stainless steel.
