Room Air Conditioner - Cleaning

You can keep your room air conditioner clean by performing the following tasks:

1. Dampen a cloth with a mild detergent and water solution and wipe the front and rear of the indoor grille.

2. Vacuum the indoor grille using a vacuum cleaner brush attachment.

3. Wipe or vacuum the areas behind the grille.

4. Clean the air filter. Please take a look at our Air Conditioner - Cleaning the Filter article for instructions.

5. Use a mild detergent and water solution to wipe down the cabinet of the unit.

6. If the outdoor coils are clogged with debris, they may be professionally cleaned. We do not recommend cleaning it yourself with a garden hose or pressure washer since you are more likely to get water into electronic areas.

 

Note: Take special care to not force movable louvers out of position or to damage the coil fins.
