Room Air Conditioner - Cleaning
Cleaning a Room Air Conditioner keeps the appliance looking good and performing at its best. Properly cleaning a Room Air Conditioner helps to ensure optimum cooling performance and maximum efficiency when the Air Conditioner is in use.
Cleaning and Maintaining a Room Air Conditioner
You can keep your Room Air Conditioner clean by performing the following tasks routinely.
- Dampen a cloth with a mild detergent and water solution and wipe the front and rear of the indoor grille.
- Vacuum the indoor grille using a vacuum cleaner brush attachment.
- Wipe or vacuum the areas behind the grille.
- Clean the air filter. Please take a look at our Air Conditioner - Cleaning the Filter article for instructions.
- Use a mild detergent and water solution to wipe down the cabinet of the appliance.
- If the outdoor coils are clogged with debris, they may be professionally cleaned. We do not recommend cleaning it yourself with a garden hose or pressure washer since you are more likely to get water into electronic areas.
Note: Take special care to not force movable louvers out of position or to damage the coil fins.
